Sevenson Environmental, National Grid’s Remediation Contractor, is continuing mobilization activities, which includes bringing construction equipment, materials and temporary facilities to the site. Sevenson has completed fence installation as well as clearing and grubbing activities within the work area. The installation of the soil erosion control was also completed. The electricians have completed the installation of electrical wiring around the site needed for the CAMP (Community Air Monitoring Program). Sevenson is currently finalizing activation of the electrical service with LIPA. The above ground concrete foundations that supported the hortonsphere (old gas storage tank) have been demolished and the debris stockpiled onsite for disposal.

Sevenson’s soil mix wall subcontractor, Geocon, has mobilized soil mixing equipment to the site. Assembly of the crane/soil mix rig and batch plant is in progress and is scheduled to be completed next week.
Six Community Air Monitoring Stations were installed and tested prior to the start of the baseline testing process. Baseline testing will continue into next week.
Two-Week Outlook
Sevenson is expected to continue the mobilization of equipment, materials, and temporary facilities. Mobilization and set-up of the water treatment plant and the temporary fabric structure will begin. Sevenson is also expected to begin pre-trenching in preparation for the start of the installation of the soil mix wall along the perimeter of the work area.
General hours of operation will continue to be Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
