Sevenson Environmental, National Grid’s Remediation Contractor, continued mobilization of equipment and materials, and winterization of the water treatment plant. The temporary fabric structure (TFS) arrived from Las Vegas, NV on Tuesday and the first steel supports were erected on Thursday. No soils were transported from the site this week.
Sevenson’s dewatering subcontractor, Griffin, did not operate the excavation dewatering system this week as water treatment plant personnel began the addition of the new water treatment chemical, commonly used in water purification and in water treatment plants, to reduce TSS in the discharge water. Visual observations of the treated water recirculating within the water treatment system indicate the chemical additive is producing positive results. No treated water was discharged from the site this week. To date, a total of 819,080 gallons of treated water from the wastewater treatment system has been discharged from the site.

Two-Week Outlook
Sevenson is expected to complete the erection of the TFS. Site clearing activities will continue in preparation for the commencement of soil excavation activities. Completion of the winterization and operation of the water treatment plant will be ongoing for the next week.
Sevenson’s dewatering subcontractor will continue the operation of the excavation dewatering system in the coming weeks. Groundwater removed from the excavation footprint will be pumped to the waste water treatment plant and discharged.
National Grid contractors will continue working in Long Island Avenue to address sewer line issues. Work will continue to complete an inspection of the sewer line and conduct any necessary repairs.
General hours of operation will continue to be Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. To maintain the ambitious schedule for the project, beginning Saturday, January 3, for a period of at least two months, work on the site will also be conducted on Saturdays, between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
