Meadow Street parking lot, which formerly housed the water treatment plant is opened for the Memorial Day weekend.

Sevenson Environmental, National Grid’s Remediation Contractor, continued decommissioning the water treatment plant and the decontamination and demobilization of equipment and supplies from the site.  Sevenson continued importing a natural stone blend material to bring the site to final grade.  Sludge removal from the water treatment plant commenced this week resulting in the removal of 826.23 tons of MGP-impacted sludge/soils that were transported to a thermal treatment facility in southeastern Pennsylvania.  An additional 6.07 tons of construction and demolition debris was transported from the site to a landfill in southeastern Pennsylvania.  The total amount of soil removed from the site to date is 37,506.96 tons. 

20,348 gallons of water collected after the water treatment plant was placed off-line was transported to Clean Waters of New York for treatment and disposal.  The total amount of water sent to Clean Waters is 32,332 gallons. 

Sevenson’s paving sub-contractor, Corazzini Paving, completed the resurfacing of Long Island Avenue and Bridge Street so that these roadways would be opened for the Memorial Day weekend.  Sevenson’s fencing sub-contractor, Shannon Fence, continued the installation of permanent chain-link fencing around the perimeter of the site.

Sevenson will complete the demobilization of decontaminated equipment and unused supplies from the site.  Site grading activities and the completion of the perimeter fencing will be completed next week. 
Remaining

decontamination or other water generated from site operations will be transported off site for proper treatment and disposal.  Any remaining material used as a base for the water treatment plant, stabilized sludge and sand and carbon media will be transported from the site for thermal treatment early next week.    

Sevenson’s paving contractor will begin the refurbishment of the Village parking lot on Meadow Street early next week.  Final restorations of the site, the surrounding areas disturbed during construction and the Village parking lot will be completed following Memorial Day.        

General hours of operation will continue to be Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
